The Power of Social Media
Social media is changing the way we use power and our perceptions of the world around us. To succeed in today's world, you also need to succeed on the social media front. Indeed, various actors are increasingly using social media in their quest for power, and to explain how the world should respond. Information is power, and the producers of information (or the gathering of information in different ways) are the powers.
The reality is no longer just an officially communicated or "objective fact" interpretation of events, but how social media conveys our awareness. However, different actors are just learning how to use the somme in their power aspirations, and the potential for using the somme is emerging.
Although the experience gained so far on social media does not support the myth of equality, some cannot be overridden by humming. The virtual medium has played an important part in many events in the physical world.
Living with social media changes the rules of the game. An example of this is the conflict that began in Egypt in 2011, which has seen new dramatic twists and turns in recent weeks.
Where, a few years ago, a somewhat united opposition against decades of reigning President Mubarak and the coordination of his revolutionary protests through social media, some are now a tool used by all parties to the conflict.
Social media, which in the country of authoritarian media was the only means of expressing opposing views, has become a central tool for the exercise of power. As well as a platform for coordinating protests, it serves as a field for the battle for truth.
It is not surprising, therefore, that current rulers and hangers of power, as well as other parties, are actively using some to advance their goals and increase their support. In an uncertain situation where the goals and connections of the various actors are unclear, the power struggle is fierce. As far as Egypt is concerned, it remains to be seen whose truth will ultimately prevail.
Broader social communications, for example, have succeeded in the Israeli armed forces. It has developed a variety of techniques for strategic communication in social media. In this case, the pursuit of a broad communication plan is as much to promote one's own truth as the attempt to tarnish the opposite.
Numerous "share this update if you agree" messages seem to have become popular, which multiplies propaganda propagation.
The propaganda nature of the message is diluted when it is shared by a non-conflict civilian - like any of us. The speed and immediacy of social media has also been exploited by the Israeli armed forces, including through early warning of bombings via Twitter.
The importance of social media is also evident in peaceful societies, where it causes constant headaches for those skilled in strategic communications.
Many social media agency and authorities alike, with their increasingly active social media, are trying to produce the impact they want and control the information. The backbone of a successful brand or stable administration lies in the equally successful coordination of a successful basic message.
Social media should no longer be seen as a sincere update of "nice tweets or Facebook posts", but increasingly as a channel for sharing conscious information. The social status of the information sharer also directs the message being filtered out of the sommelier.
Tweets and Facebook updates from people or communities in certain positions are being followed closely - and those in power are constantly using the soma to share their information. Tweets and updates are still being shared, which multiplies the message volume.
Even though the various spying frenzies are surging now, social media is not only a source of information and data collection for states or companies, but they are increasingly actively trying to influence our understanding of the surrounding reality through and through Finland. Social media creates a dominance for its users - at least until the next update.
